Team Champions
Bernadette Guy, M.S., CCC-SLP, Savannah Smith, M.A., CCC-SLP, and Brooke Hierholzer, M.S., CFY-SLP, comprise the speech-language pathology (SLP) team at Dolphin Pointe Health Care Center in Jacksonville, FL. They have excelled with implementation of OmniME™ (Synchrony Dysphagia Solutions by ACP® and OmniFlow® Breathing Therapy Biofeedback System).

Technology Integration
“OmniFlow has been an essential part of treatment for patients recovering from COVID, diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), or experiencing shortness of breath that may cause dysphagia (difficulty chewing and swallowing) or a voice disorder.” – BROOKE

“When our patients are discharged home, they choose to continue with therapy at our outpatient clinic. This is because they look forward to continuation of using the device [OmniFlow], as they attribute much of their progress to its use!” – BERNADETTE

“These tools [Synchrony and OmniFlow] are a game changer for the services we provide in our inpatient and outpatient population. They open up the door for collaboration with our in-house pulmonologist to increase the functionality of our treatment approaches. Patients are recovering faster from post-COVID issues, including decreased respiratory coordination. By employing these two devices, we have helped countless patients return to work and their prior level of living faster.” – SAVANNAH

Team Success
A gentleman patient with dysphagia who had difficulty clearing residue (food and drink) from his throat after swallowing, benefited from Synchrony OmnisEMG™ biofeedback. The visual display helped him improve effort during swallowing for better ability to clear residue. He found it motivating to have a percentage and accuracy target for required effort.
